Red engine light flashing. Brakes ?

Have a 03 Jetta TDI that I bought cheap. It has it's issues but already saved what I got into it on fuel savings alone. Have to t/s no power ( which info on how to is here) and why it wont easily go into reverse or first. Now I have a red flashing light on dash. Thinking it's brakes.its the same light as my emergency brake. Replaced brakes but the old ones are good still. Lots of pad. Have antilock light on also that I have tried to clear with no success. Perhaps cleaning sensor for antilock?.

Can you post a picture? Does it beep as well?

1. Check if parking brake is fully released.
2. Check brake fluid level.

Maybe brake pedal switch is bad?

What's your transmission?

Ya it does beep. Thinking switch is sticking. Don't quite know where to look for switch. Also abs light is driving me nuts. Hopefully cleaning sensor some more will do it. Only one sensor on driver side. Can't clear El with code reader. It's got abs clearing function but won't allow me to clear it.

It's manual and handle I'd down all the way. Once I find switch I'll test it.
