I getting ready for new Michelin Primacy MXV4 tires and I'm thinking about up sizing from my factory 195/65R15 91H to 205/65R15 94H.

Has anybody done this? I'm hoping for the speedometer to be more accurate, better highway MPG (lower engine RPM) and this will give me 0.25" increase in my ride height.

Just wanted someones opinion if I should do this or not.

So the radius increase by 1/4" or 1/8"? You will hardly notice the difference, but the stiffer sidewall should help handling.

Running 205-65 on mine. Are fine and gear it up a bit-no rubbing-speedo right on

If your speedometer reading is now dead-on accurate after doing this mod, I'd bet the odometer reading is now off... and with it, your fuel economy calculations.

I borrowed a handheld GPS from one of my co-workers and tried it out on the freeway with my stock tires. I found the speedometer to be consistently 2 MPH fast (no matter what speed, 55, 65, 75, 80) and the odometer to be identical to the GPS measured distance over 15 miles. (Also matched the mileposts over the same distance, FWIW).

I figure VW just puts the needle on the speedo in that position to get that +2 reading.

I haven't bought my new tires yet. I'm ordering my new tires tomorrow. I will just stay with the stock 195's. I don't want the odometer to be off. I can live with the speedometer being 3 mph off. I just drive 73 if i want 70 mph. Thanks for helping.

Almost every VW I have owned (Jetta, Golf, Passat, Beetle, Eurovan, etc.) show 3 MPH fast.
