Default warranty question

I recieved an IP as a warranty replacement for a reman IP that was purchased a few weeks ago. The reman IP came nicely packaged in fitted foam and a new box with VW stickers.

The warranty replacement pump came bubble wrapped, no stickers, in a generic box soaked with diesel fuel that had leaked out of the pump. This warranty replacement is apparently a take-off from a car, not a fresh reman that I had expected. It had diesel in it, and the pulley nut has been removed.

So my question is, is this acceptable? Or should I expect another proper reman pump as warranty for the original reman pump that lasted only a few days and a couple hundred miles?

You bought a boxed, reman pump, under warranty it failed. I'm guessing they decided to replace rather than repair to honor the warranty. So, you should have gotten another one, just like the first one you bought. You didn't buy a take-off, don't accept one as a replacement. They get the failed one back after the swap, but the one to go on must match what they sent in the first place, and it doesn't sound like that's the case.

Followup, the vendor is going to send out another (proper) reman pump.

Apparently he had a few pumps from a different supply stream. Hasn't been a problem with the others, apparently just mine.

Anyway, he's standing behind his service and sending another pump. This box of return cores is going to get kinda heavy.
