I build a big turbo on a 2.0 CR170 engine lately.
Car makes 253 hp and 470 Nm now.
Mods; manifold, turbo, bigger ic, 2,5" turboback exhaust w/o DPF and sw.
Some pictures:

We also do time attack series with this car.
This car is 1st in the competition now (lowest class)

Great project Johan, It's nice to see big hp numbers of cr engines.

Greetings, Bernard

Nice. I'm curious, what was the reasoning behind choosing a T series instead of a GT series turbo?

looks nice, what about the fuel, are there any fuel left for more power or is it on the limit
or are bigger CR nozzles the next thing.

Last year there was an Euro 170HP TDI similar to this with GTB2260VK + exhaust only. It made 235bhp and torque was no less than 400Nm at 2300-4000 RPM. It was smoke-free with stock rail pressure and it still had a little bit of fuel left. If I squeeze in a little more fuel I'm not sure if it can make 260bhp without increasing rail pressure (it also depends on the dyno). The customer was happy as-is. Bigger tips are needed for much more power like 300bhp anyway.

Nice work, Johan!

Thanks :)

I have still quite some fuel left.
My feeling says that it can support 300 hp quite easy.
Or is the problem the after injections?
I think airflow just quits at 250/260 hp.
More boost just doesn't work.

I think stock bottom end will hold 300 hp as long as you can keep it efficient.
Not to high egt, emp and pcp's and engine will survive quite some power.

I suppose the CR heads are more restrictive, especially the early ones.

Do you have any videos of this thing going? Cruise around town, dyno, track, etc.?

Looks like pro stuff there :).
What about ESP, something special to get rid of it for racing?

I've read that the new Golf GTD has some kind of "tone generator" that gives it a little gasoline engine sound. Since you've done the exhaust mods, how does the "tone generator" work, what is it? :)

CR heads are REALLY restrictive...its amazing that they make power at all. I bet a serious port job would help a lot.

Nice work Johan!!

Did you do all the desing and fab work yourself?

I have a 2010 CR170 Leon with the DPf-removed and Revo software. Still running very sweetly and still giving a good reliable 230hp and 460Nm. However, I would love to develop the car further, so a new turbo looks like the next thing on the shopping list!

Sorry for not being able to shut up, but 230hp/460Nm with just a tune and dpf delete? That's 22hp/25Nm more that Revo promises with their software... Smells of "UK numbers" a long way...

Sorry Alcaid,

...and a Revo custom map for the DPF-off...
