There are just too many to list....
I noticed someone holding their Fleshlight closely in that pic.....hmmmmm.... :p

Anyways, in case anyone is wondering, the timing belt is also used to run the high-pressure fuel pump to feed the fuel rail (as in, commonrail) so that is what that extra little sprocket is above the alternator.

The engine is 2.0L, has a chain driven balance shaft module in the oil pan run off the oil pump, has 16 valves driven by two camshafts and has roller followers with little HLAs in the head, like many other engines use. The belt turns one cam, then the other cam is driven via a gear under the valve cover like Toyotas and others do.

Ah, you did find it was gear driven under there?

Good to know.

(At the auto show, we were discussing whether the second cam was gear (like the V12 TDI) or chain driven (like the old 1.8L and 2.0L 16v gassers.))

Of course, top-end lubrication is critical in any case, with that sort of setup - we saw what happens with a V12 TDI's gear drive when it's run at about 5 RPM, with no oil, for a day.
