Strange tire ware.

My wife's 2015 Q5 has been through 2 sets of tires so far.

Both times the front tires ware the outside edges of the tires. Both times I've taken the car for an alignment and it was good.

I'm stumped what this could be the rest of the tire has about 30-40% life on it.

My A6 has similar tire wear. My local tire shop always says my toe-in (?) is slightly out of spec but not according to Audi. My local tire shop said Audi’s specs lean more toward performance than tire life. You sacrifice treadwear for performance/safety. You almost need to rotate the tires every 5,000 miles.

I've gone through 2 sets in under 30k miles. My first set were Michelin PS3+ gone in 15k miles with rotates. My 2nd were Continentals DWS06, did not rotate in time with 4k miles and Discount tire told me it was "too unsafe" to rotate rears and fronts, they lasted 7k miles. Went with Continental DWS06 again, more aggressive with rotates, every 3k miles with lifetime Firestone alignments each rotate.
