2013 golf turbo bad?

Hey guys I re-installed the stock hardware (had stage3) and there is a high pitched sound coming from the turbo. It has 32,000mi on it has been stored for 4yrs. I didn't check the play or spin the blades before the install.


What do bad bearings sound like? I am nervous about driving it.

I would check exhaust manifold bolta and all mating faces for signs of soot...

Does an exhaust leak make a high pitch sound? Something I considered making the sound as I do smell diesel exhaust in the engine bay.

prob depends on the leak, another place to look is the DP clamp/seal.

A thermal imaging camera would be pretty sweet to spot any leaks.

Did you use a new manifold gasket ? That’s probably what it makes noise...
