I'm thinking about installing an EGT gauge and, before poking around in and under the engine compartment, I was wondering if there is an existing, plugged, port for a TC, or if it will require drilling and tapping a hole. Did a search and didn't find anything.

Thanks!

The ECU already knows the EGT and VCDS can show it...block 76 I think.
I do not know HOW the ECU knows the EGT. O2 sensor perhaps? Anyone?

If you look at the exhaust manifold very closely you will see the EGT sensor cable just where it "y"'s into the turbo housing. it will report the temps and limit fuel as necessary.

Thanks for the info. I'll hook up VCDS and check it out. Anyone else have an EGT gauge?

Just opened up Bentley, and there is actually something that is called the "Turbocharger Intake Temperature Sensor" (G507). It looks like it threads into the exhaust manifold behind the turbo flange. It also shows up in the wiring diagram. Guess I should have checked out Bentley before asking the question. I thought that it was just the DPF cars that had them.
