1996 Passat TDI wagon $5500 / obo ----SOLD------

I picked up this car to fix for a customer, and I'm totally out of time due to other commitments. Runs, drives fine. Needs: Light bump in front has been repaired but needs some additional prep work and paint. Needs tires. Tranny noisy and good replacement included. Car is medium blue with charcoal interior. Odometer shows 112K, but Carfax shows an odometer replacement. The former owner claimed the odometer installed was a used one, and the actual mileage is closer to 150K. Open to offers or first $5500. BTW, the customer really wants a TDI, so we'll entertain sedan trades up or down. He needs a car ready to drive.

It doesn't have a GQ ecu in it does it? If it did, I'd be interested in swapping out my BK for it, plus some change for you.

PRICE DROP: $5500 or make a decent offer. Car is still FS, airbags installed and some other misc small repairs done today. I'm not giving it away, so no $3000 offers. That's what a non-repairable would go for. It's a straight body, no rust, and good drivetrain once the used tranny is installed. Sony CD deck. Runs and drives but would need to be towed due to the tranny issue.

you must be on _c%ack____ if you get $5500 for a 10 year old car in need of repair that is extremely crazy. Plus the wagon is not that great on diesel anyway

Is this a manual or autotragic?

If it's manual, I have a 1998 Explorer that needs a clutch. Has about 150,000 miles on it and everything else works great. 4x4. I'd be interested in trading strait up. If the tranny in the wagon is replaced, I'll have the clutch taken care of in my explorer, of course.

Which is a better ecu; BK or GQ? does one offer more performance than the other or is it just that chips are more readily available for the BK version?

BK is the OEM part, replaced by the GQ in most vehicles via a recall. The newer version diables the fabled fifth injector which shot fuel into the Cat in an attempt to ignite the unspent fuels. There are other ways do disable the 5th injector and still use the BK.
