My tdi since i had it new gets around 43 i've got 75K miles on it and have still been getting 43.6 - 43.8 avg miles with it i wonder if this sounds right? i usualy get around 520-528 miles before the fuel light comes on. Wondering any simular 01 jetta autos to compare and what mileage u all get etc.. especialy after idiot light comes on. thanks and if anyone done a intake check and found nothing?

Thats what I'm getting as well, about 530mi out of a tank w/the light on. I guess it's really not that bad and with highway driving i almost never drop below 70mph. Just reading all these other posts that everyone gets at least 46, bla bla bla makes me a little disappointed.
I cleaned my snow screen about 10,000 miles ago and it had a lot of crud in it. I would say it was about 50% blocked, after cleaning there was no real noticable difference, but I'm still glad I did it.

I have an '01 Jetta with an automatic. My mileage depends on what I'm running on. I get around 45mpg with D2 averaging 75mph but, I get lower mileage on D1 and biodiesel, usually about 42mpg. Maybe you're driving too slow.

Mi mums 01 Auto was a very consitant 43-44 MPG mixed which is why I swapped the stick for the Passat. I am now sitting happily at 34-36 MPG around town and 40-42 MPG highway

I've got about 110k on my 00 auto and I get 39-40 almost all the time. I have gotten as high as 50mpg but that was driving 55-60mph for the whole tank. At 75mph it gets 42-44. I can't remember the last time I let the fuel light come on but one time I made it to 650.

I get about 43mpg with ours. The best tank I have ever gotten was 725, but I was driving at 60-65 mph. I know fuel makes a big differnce, when I got 725 miles I use Amoco Primer which I bought in Chicago. I never can get that kind mileage with our fuel here in Minnesota.

I get 45 - 55 mpg on dino D, and 40-50 on B100 in my '00 Jetta, stick, 120k miles, no mods, 38 psi in tires, mostly hwy driving. Can't really explain the 10 mpg range that I see?

I've gotten about 40 mpg all winter on a 2004 Beetle automatic.
