loss of power, oil light flashed, oil level is fine?

anyone know why this happened? as i pulled onto my street i had a sudden loss of power, the turbo gauge needle looked like it was vibrating a bit, then my oil light started flashing, and as i came into the driveway and stopped in a hurry my rpms needle was freaking out a bit too.

i checked the oil and it looks ok. what could this be?

You profile states you don't have a TDI. What do you have, how many miles on it, any mods to it?:confused:

sounds like you may have just prevented a hydrolocked engine.
Search runaway engine.

96 tdi passat wagon. well got in the car and drove to the gym and back without any problems. don't really know what to say.

DRAIN the elbow for the intercooler ASAP!
There is alot of oil hiding in there, use a DRAIN pan, could be more than three cups or more!
Check the turbo for oil leaks, etc..., maybe the turbo is going bad?
Did you check the air intake for clogging? How is the power overall?
