Air Con Compressor shot question

Hi all, hope I'm in the right section.
I have a 2011 Passat with the CR 2.0TDi engine fitted, I'm in the UK.
My A/C compressor is diagnosed as being shot (Shaft failure) and I'm about to fit a new one along with drier and expansion valve.
My question is should I drive the car with no refrigerant and more importantly no oil in the system to the local air con re gas place?
I understand the compressor fitted to this car does not have a clutch so would therefore be spinning even if the aircon is switched off???
Either that or I could maybe leave the serpentine belt off and hope the battery holds out until I get back.

Quick update
The compressor does have oil in it, approx. 4 ounces.

If driving with bad compressor is your only option, AND you confirm new compressor includes pulley with safety tabs, then I'd remove the three silver safety tabs, which mate pulley to compressor shaft:
