Hi all --

A friend a few hundred miles away has a Passat 1.8T with a dying oil pan (stripped threads). Does anyone know what needs to be removed to change the pan? I.e. is it just sway bar links etc or is it one of these designs where you have to unbolt the transmission first? /images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Also does anyone know if all 2002 Passat 1.8Ts have the oil level sensor?

Thanks.

There are just too many to list....
The engine needs to be raised up off of the mounts to clear the subframe...is is a big job, really. Lots of stuff involved with the turbo and intercooler plumbing that gets in the way. Also, there is no oil pan gasket, just a sealant, so everything needs to be squeeky clean and dry.

I think they all have oil level sensors.
