Two San Diego Costco's now offer diesel. One down by the border, and one in Escondido off I-15. Both too far from me to make it worth going over there.
So, basically you're saying both you and your car can get "tanked" in Escondido! If you go to Escondido you can also stop at Stone Brewing. Great place. lol
Well, they do have tours, and a really interesting layout/landscaping, and great food, but yes, I believe Escondido sounds like a great place to get tanked. So, basically you're saying both you and your car can get "tanked" in Escondido!
Chevron is way over priced. Is there a Propel location reasonably near you? If so, you should use them.Costco diesel is bad bad bad, I've filled up twice in my 7.3 Excursion and my mileage went down the tubes, the fuel is watered down. I'll always use chevron from now on unless I'm in a pinch I'll go to 76.
"Watered down with what? Water...........I think notCostco diesel is bad bad bad, I've filled up twice in my 7.3 Excursion and my mileage went down the tubes, the fuel is watered down. I'll always use chevron from now on unless I'm in a pinch I'll go to 76.
And I made that commitment, shortly after driving my car off the lot. Thought that since VW worked with Chevron to produce the recommended oil for my car, and concern for bad or weak fuel, I went to Chevron............. I'll always use chevron from now on unless I'm in a pinch I'll go to 76..........
The Costco that I shop at sells about 8 to 10k gals a week. I did ask them about turn over. I was told that the majority is sold to contractors, pick up and a few diesel powered cars. Costco gets their diesel from the same supplier/distributor that many name brand stations do. It is always competitive price wise and most of the time considerably less expensive. I have never experienced a drop in fuel economy. I don't believe there is any "watered" down diesel in the market place. As has been said here many many time diesel fuel is diesel fuel. Low turn over is what you want to stay away from. I think this horse has been beaten even after it is dead.VW has not worked with Chevron for their motor oil. Castrol oil the dealers used is a BP product and VW has worked with BP. Also I work at a refinery in the Hydrocracker unit where we make jet and diesel. The diesel is the same for everyone, it is not like gas where each company like Chevron has their own recipe of additives added to gas. I agree Cheveron gas is more expensive but I feel it is the better gas due to the additives they add. But their diesel is no different than others. As long as Costco's diesel gets turned over in their storage tanks often there should be nothing wrong with it.
I would say metro areas that are struggling to meet state/federal air quality standards have a higher chance of getting minimum 45 cetane.Cetane minimum spec is 40 but it is usually above that around 45 according to the Infineum fuel reports. California requires 50 IIRC. I have seen very little evidence of any of them running at 40.
