I have an ALH from an '04 Jetta which I plan to swap into a '91 Jetta and it got me thinking. Would a 01E Audi awd transmission be a simple bolt in with this motor. I also have a Passat 4motion system ('from an 04 auto) just sitting around which I could mate to the Audi 6spd tranny if this combo is doable

It's been done

Lots of fab but it's been done in many variations usually with a AWD passat parts but once you get to the drive shaft, anything is possible.

Volkswagen has built thousands of AWD diesels. They still do.
That American buyers aren't interested in. Small cars that are fuel efficient and capable? Yeah, no.

(Not meeting to trash talk, just years of frustration)

Come to think of it, I may have a final drive gear ratio problem given that the 4motion is from an auto platform and the tranny is a 6spd.
