Battery Maintenance - Adding Distilled Water

I've checked high and low on this site about how to open OE battery in order to check fuild levels. Not in FAQs and numerous searches were not helpful.

Anybody know how to open the battery itself to check fluid?

On my girl's 99.5 I had to peel the "Maintenance Free" stickers off to uncover the water caps. Those come off with a big flathead screwdriver.

You can also use a small retractable knife blade to cut the label through the outline of the caps. There's a gap or depression where the caps are that the knife will fit into. Looks a bit better after they go back on.

Just another small "tip"on removing those battery cell caps.
Using an old ball point pen....simply run the tip of the pen around cell cap. The tape over the cap is very easily..and neatly cut.
