Default Brakeswitch help Urgent Please ,Travelling tonight

All my brake lights quit working. Checked all the fuses everything checked out ok. Could it be the brake switch? How do I change the brake switch? I don't want to get pulled over for brake lights not working

My 2001 jetta did this about 3 weeks ago it was the bake switch and it has an active recall on it took to dealer said it would only take about 30 min but i left it so i am not real sure how long it really took
