Does it shut off as if the key was turned off (except for typical pre-start up lamps still on)? or does it sputter. If it sputters, look at fuel. If it shuts off as if the key was used, I would look at the crank sensor. I have helped several guys who it turned out had bad crank sensors and the ECU put out no codes.

What lights do you have on when it dies?

The BEW does not usually suffer from the "109" or main power relay failures.

I will be ordering a new sensor but I don't think that's the main issue!
I have cleared the codes 5 times and I come back with cam sensor!
And air bag igniter and left front ABS sensor! and stering angle sensor?
I would focus on that cam sensor code first. Apparently the crank sensor is tough to diagnose and may be what's causing the cam sensor code. The computer system on these cars is not "all knowing", simply replacing parts named in codes doesn't always take care of the problem.
Maybe review these single posts-

That's exactly what mine was doing but it was the cam sensor, does the BEW not usually give a crank sensor fault code when it's playing up?

Mines the ATD PD100, no idea if that makes any odds

The BEW gives a bad crank sensor code about 1 failure in 3 or 4, in my experience.
It is very high on my list for issues like this one - rapid mystery death - in fact it is my number one suspect - on the BEW.

Well I swapped out the crank sensor and it didn't die!
As a mater of fact it never accelerated as well before, and then the turbo popped!
Im missing the exh side shaft completely!
The lower hose and inter cooler were complete full of oil!

I think that's might be why it accelerated so well, probably got a good dose of extra fuel as in oil.
