You may be correct, but I didn't get it, it was only mentioned in this thread and initially firmware and maps and VIM were being distributed. I don't remember it being specified which company sent out the letters.

For clarity. It was HERE the marketing company for Navteq that sent me the C&D. So to be safe I stopped distributing everything. There are others who are.

What he said. 1140 is the newest Firmware the first generation 510's can go to. Just like 4366 is the newest my 2nd Gen unit can go to. The 3rd Gen's are still getting updates, but most are l in the factory with 5374.

No, you have a revision J. It's the last letter of the part number. You need firmware 5378. HW stands for hardware.

Looking at LokiWolfs post he says there is a HIGH likely hood it 5378 will brick a J unit or older.
Please clarify for me.

I have a revision J unit with H21 and I've loaded 5378 on mine. It updates the part number to a revision L.

Did 5378 make it run any better? Mine basically is unreliable except for the radio.

Greatly appreciated. Can't get any help on this issue from the dealer. Customer care was pretty good though. But they only are upgrading the Map Noth the firmware!
I think I will apply the MAP update first. Kind of ridiculous that a 2014 comes with a signifigantly down level product. VW needs to correct this!

Radios with sw 4369 can be updated to 5378 no matter the revision code. Some j versions came with ssd's which require the new sw. 4366 and below are for hdd.

Your update worked because your hardware version is H21. It is my understanding that you will "brick" anything less than H21 if you attempt to load software version 5378. My '13 has a H02 version - last software I loaded was 4366 which I believe is the latest avail for a H02 revision. (and FWIW I have "J" at the end of my part number - which really doesn't mean a whole lot)

You have a third generation RNS510 (H21) so the software version 5378 should work for your unit.

SalsaMan06, and BarryT82 are dead on right. When I did that update to the first thread nobody had loaded 5378 on a J unit, and we had not discovered the HW pattern for that revision. Al, sorry for the confusion, and thanks for reading and picking up on the clarity that needs to be made. I will revise it later this evening when I am on a full size keyboard and clarify.

It cannot accept 5374 or 5378 firmware due to the SSD units different disk drive kernel drivers A.F.A.I.K.

That is my assumption. That happened with the first Gen units, they stopped at 1140. The second Gen's go to 4366.
