Power or lack thereof questions.

Silly question. it's been so long since I've had a bone-stock TDI I think there's something wrong with this one as it seems like it's really really slow. it seems like it'll only go about 75 on flat ground on the freeway with my foot on the floor. That's not right is it? also we tried to drive up to Truckee today from Sacramento which is on the way to Tahoe and I was going about 35 to 40 miles an hour up the hill in 3rd gear. You should be able to at least go the speed limit bone-stock shouldn't it?

Time to go through your entire vacuum system and check your wastegate adjustment on the turbo. Lots of information on this site about both.

Sounds like you might be in limp mode. If you have a leak and the engine isn't getting the right amount of air/fuel ratio it puts you into limp mode to avoid potential damage. It is extremely common and there is a ton of information about diagnosing the issues on the internet and this forum. Causes can be: boost leaks, vacuum leaks, turbo, turbo actuator, EGR system. It's usually accompanied by a check engine light though.

That's not right. My son has a stock Golf and it'll hold 90+ MPH effortlessly.
