I am doing a swap and trying to get rid of some unusable wires.
This harness is from an 01 Golf...
What are these wires?
Should they stay or should they go?

Thanx

Look like ABS sensor wiring harnesses. The one that splits into two connectors is for the brake pad wear indicator.

Yes, ABS. They should have a part number stamped on each cable to confirm and tell which wheel each is for. I recently had to replace the right front which got chewed up; most likely by rodents.

hook to, anyone?

The first photo looks like it could be stereo wiring. Not so sure on the second one..
You could just test continuity between the ECU harness and the ends of any unknown wires/connectors to see if they're going to be crucial in getting the car at least up and running?

I think your right bmali98
after a bunch more searching I believe the pink is the rear wiper, the black is the defrost
and the one I couldn't find, like you said, must be the hatch lock.tan.
At the very end of the run I think is the right rear tail lights, then there is a white connector with a heavy gauge red and brown wire I have no idea what
that is.

The "U" shaped black one is in between the turn signal stalk and gauge cluster
connectors.

Looks like it should go to the steering column?

And here is the overall mess...
