I'd get them to reimburse you what the repair would cost and then sell it back to VW, and not loose sleep over it. This is not insurance fraud.
Good idea and avatar

It was not accepted due to luck. It was accepted because the legal settlement specifies that the car* must be bought back if it is drivable. That is the only criterion of the car's condition.

*NB: The judge in the case has clarified the definition of "car" that it may not be stripped, or presumably lacking the original or equivalent parts with which it was equipped.

This is what my son did with a '13 Jetta that had been t-boned. He collected the insurance check and drove it in to Village VW in Chattanooga with both passenger doors taped shut to keep water out. They didn't blink an eye, completely legal.

My two front doors will NOT close. I have to use bungie cords to keep them closed. I refuse to repair them at $600 a whack. I will be bringing the car back just like it is now. Car drives mint. I doubt they will care. This car is definitely going to the crusher. Bald tires, broken doors, suspension clanking and 105K miles. Sad. It drives so nice though. Such a fun car to drive. I'm going to miss it.
