Hi guys

First post here and a cry for help unfortunately.

I am the very recent owner of a beautifully clean MK5 Golf GT Sport 170 DSG and have spent the last few months chasing a problem. The car has the BMN PD170 engine with the dreaded siemens piezo injectors.

Since purchasing, the vehicle has suffered from poor fuel economy. Showing on the on board computer an average of 36-37 mpg, however the car was averaging around 28-29 mpg when calculated from brim to empty.

The car clearly suffered from a fuelling issue because at times the car would struggle to start and the ignition would need to be clicked 5-6 times to pump fuel through to start. This was found to be from bad injectors 1 and 3 which were replaced. At this point the on board computer began to show an average of 46-47 mpg. However the car is still averaging around 29 mpg. The car also has a possible diesel/rich smell when left idling in one place.

I have ran some recent vcds scans and have taken some readings if that would help anyone here.

Thanks in advance
