I replaced the alternator on my 2006 jetta TDI and the steering and traction control are still on. After the change the lights went out in about a 3 mile drive, all was good. But after I pulled away from a fast food window , the steering would not turn to the right more than 10 degrees, to the left no problem. Disconnected the battery. , reconnected, lights on but no power steering .At the VW dealer waiting to see what the problem is. Tried the reset sequence , but no go . Any help is appreciated.

Poor ground(s), especially the steering harness, would be my guess.
Especially the steering ground hidden underneath the airbox. The dealer may very well pull the fault codes and try to sell you a new steering rack.
