This is on my BEW. A while ago the check engine light cam on and it threw a code for the turbo actuator feedback sensor. I cleared the code hoping it would not come back, but after 50miles the light came back on with the code.

Here's the code:

I guess I have to drop the belly pan and see what is going on. What are the odds the actual actuator is bad? I know you cannot buy them separately for the KP39 so I really hope it is not that!

Just wondering if any of our gurus have seen this before.

Yeah I was afraid of that. I did a search and it seem like the wiring going to it can be a problem sometimes. Hopefully it is just a cut wire and not the actuator. I guess I got to crawl under the car and find out.

That's for the ALH. The US spec PD100 (BEW) uses a Borg Warner KP39 turbo. It uses a feedback sensor on the actuator that tells the ECU where the position of the veins are. The problem is that the actuator is not available anywhere what so ever. You can, however, buy a replacement feedback actuator for Garrett turbos, but it will not work on the OEM KP39.

If my actuator is gone bad, look like I will be out of luck. If the wires going to the actuator is damaged, that would be a easy/cheap fix. Hopefully it's the wires.

Edit: Here is a smart actuator, but it only fits Garrett turbos.

Some new ideas don't seem like good ideas in my opinion. ryanp on here might be able to supply a second hand one, might be worth checking if need be.:)

Got the car jacked up, pulled the belly pan, and started to check out the wires.

It was completely covered with split loom and some weird heat resistant wrap on the connector. So I pulled it all back and at first I couldn't find anything wrong. Then bam, two of the three wires are almost cut through. BINGO!

I am so glad it was not the actuator!!!!

Going to get some heat shrink crimps for a good waterproof seal. I still haven't fixed it yet. It really needs a flywheel replacement anyway. The DMF is getting quite bad so it's parked for now anyway.

Thanks guys.

Nice find!:) Those feedback sensor wires are really flimsy. I wire tied mine for more support.
