Loose Timing Belt cover retaining clips

Hello,

I have noticed that many (if not all) CR TDI engines suffer from what I call too loose timing belt cover retaining clips issue.
There are three such clips on the upper timing belt cover but they do not latch as tightly as it used to be on PD engines. In fact, they almost doesn't latch - the cover is loose, contains gaps (you can wiggle it easily). Sand and dirt is getting into the timing belt area. From experience, CR timing belt area is way dirtier than it used to be on PDs.

Question:
Any ideas what would be the best remediation for this issue?
I was thinking about buying new retaining clips and replacing them during TB job process, however.. I'm not sure how to remove/replace them and will that solve the issue.

Any input appreciated.

Thank you.

Oh, and the offenders look like this (part number 026109150A):
