Just reading thru the legal mumbo jumbo, I came across this. These are the components that will be covered by an extended warranty for owners who opt for "the fix":

1. The entire exhaust after treatment system, including the DOC, the SCR
catalyst (if applicable), the dosing injector and other DEF system
components (if applicable), the NOx trap (if applicable), all sensors and
actuators, and the exhaust flap;
2. The entire fuel system, including the fuel pumps, high pressure common
rail, fuel injectors, and all sensors and actuators;
3. EGR system including the EGR valve, EGR cooler, EGR filter, all related
hoses and pipes, and all sensors and actuators;
4. The turbocharger;
5. The OBD System and any malfunctions detected by the OBD System
other than those related to the transmission; and
6. The DPF.

And "The Engine Long Block warranty shall cover the engine sub-assembly that consists of the assembled block, crankshaft, cylinder head, camshaft, and valve train."

The warranty period for the Extended Emissions Warranty shall be the longer of:
1. Measured from the Eligible Vehicle’s initial sale or lease: (a) for
Generation 1 and 2, 10 years or 120,000 miles, whichever comes first; or
(b) for Generation 3, 10 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first;
2. Measured from the date and mileage when an Approved Emissions
Modification is implemented prior to any resale of the Eligible Vehicle: 4
years or 48,000 miles, whichever comes first; or
3. Measured from the date and mileage of the time of the first resale
transaction after an Approved Emissions Modification: 4 years or 48,000
miles, whichever comes first; provided, however, that Subsection E.3
applies only to the first resale transaction after the modification to the first
person who in good faith purchases the vehicle for purposes other than
resale.

And, if I'm reading right, you have 18 months after the fix in which you can change your mind and opt for the buyback.

OK so maybe this:

Step 5 for my '11 6mt: $19097-840=18257

Further adjustment: 5100-(-840)=5940 or more likely they really just mean 5100-840=4260

Total monetary reimbursement: 18257+4260-840 (for 6mt vs DSG)=$22517

This is how I am reading it.

The directions are very clear that the $5100 is modified by the mileage amount and then added to the cars value from table 1A. I don't think those prices include the 5100.

I see what you are saying. It is kinda confusing.

In my case, 14 Passat SE
$28000 - $1440 + $5100 = $31,660
Thats higher than its MSRP.

it must already include it.

wonder if i should pay my CA Registration next month (which is $220 + Smog Test).

I'm in that same spot... Mine is due in Aug + Smog. Of course not as much but I'm thinking of doing a Non-Op maybe.

Wonder if we can get an extension on the Smog.. (some Temp Tags).. I know they used to do something like that if you were having issues getting it smogged. Some sort of extension.
