Running around the panhandle of Florida earlier in the week and noticed D2 hovering around $3.00 a gallon. Made me glad to get back home and fill up at $2.79 yesterday. The truck took about 22 gallons, so the bill was still over $60.

over that last few weeks in the metro Denver Colorado area rug has gone from ~$2.20 to above ~3+, while D2 has continued to go from around the ~$2.50 to just over ~3 a gal. ...my last fill up was for $2.899 a week or so ago.....

I watched RUG go up ~$0.50 in a three day period last week  ...thankfully during that time, D2 prices were holding pretty steady still in the $2.90-3.10 range... I always love this time of year when RUG & D2 usually reach parity for at least a few weeks...

D2 has slid back a few cents at some of the stations. The one I drive by the most is back at $2.79. The high last week was $2.83 there.

$2.99 was common around the KC area over the Memorial Day weekend, but a new P66 in Waldo 'burb kept it at $2.87 and I needed to tank up the truck and then the wagon. Now after the Holiday weekend, it is back to ~$2.93 at most low price stations, but you can find as low as $2.69 if you hunt!

I am switching from Optilube XPD to their Summer+ additive. No anti-gel but has the lubricity ingredients and claims more cetane improvement. I'd like to see if it does anything for FE.

Diesel prices are falling slightly here on the AL gulf coast. Several stations peaked at just over $3/gallon over the Memorial Day weekend, but the range is down a good bit, ranging from $2.949-2.979.

One exception is a station that recently dropped the Chevron branding for BP. Their diesel is still $2.799/gallon, the same as it was at least two months ago. Since the pumps were swapped out with new hardware I decided to give it a try on my last fillup since it was much cheaper and so far it seems to be OK diesel, although I'm smoking under heavy throttle a lot more than usual. I imagine it's leftover Chevron diesel, but no way to know for sure.

Returning the BP branding to this area seems like a curious move, as we were hit hard by the fallout from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Every now and then I still see a bumper sticker that says "FBP" in one of those ovals that normally has the airport abbreviation of famous tourist towns in them.

Up a few cents in SC. Now at $2.80 and, of course, the truck is dry.

Some guy on Gasbuddy said Diesel was $2.99, 2 hours before I got there, some how I think he was lying.

With all the changes GasBuddy has gone through over the last few years, I've noticed a precipitous drop in mid/premium/diesel price accuracy, and an overall downturn in price updates. It got a lot worse once they ditched the forums and whiteboards. I think it drove off a lot of old-timers who still used the website for posting prices.

If you go back up a few posts and read about the BP in my area that's $2.799, I too thought it was a bogus report for a long time until I pulled in to verify it myself. But it was real. So every now and then they do still find me a bargain. But not nearly often enough.

GasBuddy helped me find some stations that still charged only $2.919 for diesel when almost all the others were $3.29-$3.34. I got four fills from one of those stations before they raised their prices -- except I just noticed that the least convenient of them is still $2.919. So maybe when I need to refuel and I'm in the area.....

This afternoon I noticed a station charging $3.09 while driving past on the freeway. GB showed a price of $3.29, so I updated the price. Thirty minutes later I stopped on the way back to fill up, taking advantage of a 3-cent discount so only $3.06 for me, and at least two of the other diesel pumps were in use. All the other stations in the area were still $3.29, and the ones close to my home are $3.25.

I've been driving more lately; I've filled up ten times in the last 31 days, and I was driving my other car over the Memorial Day weekend so really ten times in 28 days. And averaging 45.5 mpg which is the best fuel mileage I've ever obtained in almost 15 years of ownership.

Okie still frequents here? Guess I haven't missed much in my absence (no problems with any of the 5 TDIs here).

Filled up today at HEB (regional supermarket monopoly in Central Texas) for $2.79. Filled up mom's mk7 at Shell for $2.99.

Filled up in CA two weeks ago at a Food 4 Less in Perris, CA for $3.83.

For everything other than both trucks (GMC K3500 6.5L and Ford F-Super Duty 7.3L, both 1995), I have a 90 gallon transfer tank here at the ranch, obtained when diesel was $2.69/ga (about a month and a half ago), also filled up with Optilube XPD.

GasBuddy is a useful tool although as others have noted since they revamped their website it is more of a pain to use. I find I need to switch it to RUG then back to diesel everytime I scroll the screen in order to get the most current reported price. For the most part that I've seen firsthand reported diesel prices are spot on in my area.

As I take annual road trips to the same areas I've noticed the stations with the cheapest diesel on GasBuddy remain so year in and year out. Once I know where these stations are (I keep a list of them for easy reference) I don't need to scope out all stations along the route for lowest price. Some states are a better deal than others too - I find Ohio is almost always lower than Pennsylvania (fuel tax comes into play here) for example.

Lowest diesel in my area is still $3.29 - same as two weeks ago.

I think some people don't really pay attention to where they are posting which prices. Especially when it a fuel they aren't purchasing. I've noticed one of the new QTs by me always has prices for everything but rug listed incorrectly.

Prices holding steady at $2.99 or lower depending on if you want to hunt for a deal. But $2.87 is still easily available near my commute.

About to cross Kansas again. I am seeing $2.96 average (recent reports) early in the drive, and $2.99 and higher later out West ($3.15 if you don't look ahead and plan!), but hoping to find $2.89 at known better locations. I will know by tomorrow ~8am after ~200 miles. Seeing is believing.
