Snow is the arch nemesis of the plastic belly pan. Reverse through some chewed up, compacted snow and the back of the belly pan rips right off.

That and falling fenderbergs from the truck in front of you. I'm not swerving on an icy freeway.

Skid plate is just the way to go. It's not a license to drive over curbs, obviously.
Sure, I agree. Remember I said that a skid plate is a good idea. I would install one in a heartbeat if weather and road condition here warranted it.

My point was that if you hit something hard enough, a skid plate won't save your oil pan.

Obie Wan Kanobi (Star Wars Jedi mind trick): "If you drive over curbs and impact something so friggen hard it lifts your front wheels off of the ground, you need to go home and rethink your driving habits."

Driver: "Must go home and learn to drive...."
