Hi all,
Can a leaking intercooler make the dpf filter go bad ?
That' s what the dealer say.

Thx

Just to use their logic...
If the IC is leaking....then less air is getting to the motor than called for...
So the engine might be running with a bit too much fuel...so maybe a bit more smoke or soot...so might need MORE Regens ...so maybe a shorter life?
But I think they are reaching a bit...
Maybe somebody might have more insights....

could cause much soot to be spit out.

this can clog up the DPF.

if you are lucky, the pressure model will call for regens more frequently,

but is is possible to clog it up so fast it needs cleaning. (depending on how you drive.)

Dealers will not clean, just replace...

once either soot model says there is too much soot, the computer will not even try to do a regen.

any instrument panel warning lights?

did the dealer provide soot levels?

Ok here is the story, In 2015 august I have 43978 miles on the car.
That's when I took it to the dealer and changed the filter (egr insufficient flow code p0401)
8/100 coverd it. About a month ago I had the same code so went back to the dealer.
They told me it is because my intercooler leaks. Priced me $1150, I told them that i will fix it. Now when I went back they void the warranty on the pdf filter cos I have put in a after market intercooler. It was made by bear the same what they have use I think

assuming this is the 2010 Jetta, (and that the filter they replaced is the low pressure EGR filter)

the problem is could have been a cracked DPF.

this caused the EGR filter to clog up,

since they did not fix the DPF, the new EGR filter jammed up.

them blaming the intercooler is a different issue.

do you have parts numbers for the parts they installed? (or can you verify which parts they replaced for the P0401 error)

No, the pdf filter was changed back in 2015. Do not say anything about the egr filter on the bill.
