Hello,

a question to those who service Mk5/Mk6 suspensions every day:
How much of play is there on 1) front lower control arm ball joint bolts/nuts? 2) strut top mount bolts to chassis?

Is there at least a bit of play possible in both mentioned locations so that the camber can be slightly adjusted to the positive side?

Any input is appreciated

Thanks.

Very little. as much as you can get by loosening the crossmember bolts and shifting the crossmember side to side.

Not sure about the crossmember but judging by pictures found on Vwvortex, the holes are quite large down there (people complain about clunking noise, etc..).

I had a spare LCA busing laying around a set of bolts for it. The two smaller bolts allow ~1 mm play side to side. Was thining where would I set my camber if I losen the bushing bolts, move the bushing brackets inwards, say 1 mm each and then move the top strut mount 1mm to the outside of the car and slightly backwards (to increase caster).

Oh, and I don't really want to slot the holes up there, as I live in such a climate zone where rust starts instantly...
