longtime driver of ALH and BEW, but have grown to love the EA288 in our 2015 jetta S.

was looking to buy another one assuming the long warranty on emissions/turbo/IP are still in effect

what about the CVCA-powered passats? were they also recalled and offer similar warranty? i beleive the EA189/EA288s were treated identically

how do the passat engines compare vs an EA288 in performance, economy, and longevity?

of course the passat is a heavier car but the fuelly reports here seem to be at least as good as our (disappointing imo) 2015 jetta mileage

thanks

All 2015 TDI that have a 2.0L engine are EA288 based. They all run about the same and have the same maintenance and upkeep requirements.

The Passat actually gets better fuel economy that a Jetta with the EA288 engine. If you like your Jetta TDI for the engine then the Passat will be just as nice, but a LOT bigger on the inside.

Are you sure about this? From memory that's not what the FE sticker indicates, even when comparing a 6M Passat against a 6A Jetta.

Yeah any FE gains of the Passat over a Jetta would be close to none. Gearing is the same and pretty much the same drive line.

Now miles per tank the Passat will spank the jetta.
