brush holder for 98 TDI starter

The braided copper wire from the solenoid has turned to dust. The starter is good. Does anyone know where I can get just the brush holder or a repair wire ?

I've looked all over but cant find one for a TDI.

You need to contact the Bosch technical support.

Hopefully they can put you in touch with a starter rebuilder that carries Bosch parts and they can order you the correct brush assembly and ship it to you. You will need to give them the Bosch number off of the starter.

I did this with my '85 Jetta TD about 10 years ago and the brush set for the starter was $35.
