Malone stage 2 tune
Colt stage 2 cam installed.

I replaced the leaky tandem pump (and coolant lines underneath). After replacement the the engine would have a hard time revving past 3k.

I then replaced the turbo with a brand new garrett VNT 17 unit and the engine still lacked power and couldn't rev past 3k.

Put back on the old tandem pump and the power and ability to rev past 3k came back.

QUESTION(S):

Will the malone stage 2 tune need adjustment after:
1. the turbo replacement?
2. the tandem pump replacement?
3. the install of the stage 2 cam?

Thanks,

Dave

No on the tandem pump. Something isn't right if one pump is causing issues.

Cam - maybe some tweaking to get the most from it.

Turbo- I would think yes since the tune was made for the stock turbo. And depends if the new turbo has the smart actuator or not. I don't think you have to get a tune but to get the most out of the turbo I would say yes.

Contact them to see what they think.

Thanks coalminer16!
I reached out to malone and they responded saying a tune adjustment would be helpful with the turbo and cam upgrades.
As well, malone agrees that the tandem pump was a problem not it’s compatibility with the tune.
I’ll be installing the replacement tandem pump and will report back.

Replacement tandem pump installed and the power is back and revs comfortably beyond 4K now,
And, the black smoke is almost gone upon hard acceleration.
