Time it up to 0 to begin with, then log to see any obvious changes to how the car runs
Then (at least what i did with my Newmans cam) using the cam specsheet, try playing with some fuel timing and see how you get on. Over time, i've now figured out by how much i can mechanically advance the timing, and where/how to inject and over how long.
Essentially, log, tweak, repeat!
