I just had a new timing belt kit and serpentine belt put on my 2010 Jetta TDI.

My registration is due soon and have to smog it, so went to test the vehicle and it failed due to the engine not being ready.

How many miles do I have to drive before the emissions system has enough data points to "be ready"?

if someone reset the codes, it will not clear the last readiness until the car completes a DPF regen on its own.

this could take up to 300 miles or so. (or half that... or less)

(if everything is working...)

I just went through this a couple of weeks ago. It took almost 500 miles for the readiness codes to read ok.
