How to disconnect the speed sensor cable from the speed sensor?

Hi everyone, i own a 2000 vw beetle tdi. I'm in the process of replacing the speed sensor. I have already removed the sensor from the engine block. My problem is that i can not remove the cable from the sensor. Any suggestion? thanks....

There is a small latch that must be depressed to release the connection. The problem is that it will not depress when the connection is "loaded" by the gasket inside. All you have to do is compress the gasket by pressing the connectors together(like you are plugging it together), then depress the latch. They should come apart pretty easily if done correctly.
