I have an 2006 Jetta 1.9 TDI. When I turn the key to the on position before crankING the engine, there is a clicking sound emanating from behind the dash. The dashboard lights twinkle on and off to the clicking sound for about 1 minute or more. The engine will start, regardless of the clicking and flickering dashboard lights. The dashboard lights will flicker on and off until the engine is completely warmed up. Therefore, I usually just leave the car idling in park for 25 or 30 minutes after I have started it, so these problems don't hinder my travels. Winter is shortly arriving here, and waiting half an hour for the engine to warm up every time i turn it off, will make for some long delays. I recently replaced the glow plugs and harness. Sometimes the check engine light for the failed plug will light up for a while, some times not..
