Default used VCDS?

I am confused by the whole Ross-Tech licensing. I have seen used VCDS selling for ~$200 in the for sale forum. Do I need to pay $99 for a license to use the full featured software if I buy one of these used cables? Or do I get the full version because I am buying the real deal cable.

If the cable is genuine then you won't need to purchase the software, just download it from the Ross Tech site and you are good to go.

Lee is correct in that a genuine Ross-Tech cable will be fully functional. However, the customer support is only good for the original purchaser. If you need or want support from Ross-Tech, you will then need to spend the $99 for a new license. The cable contains a "dongle" that unlock the full features of the software, but a used cable does not come with support. If you know how to use it, you can probably get by with a used cable.

Have Fun!
