lupo 1.4 tdi idle noise is louder then normal

Hi

Ive got a 1.4 tdi amf engine lupo and for some reason the enigne is making a loud noise it sounds like normal tdi sound but louder

i have had the timing belt changed about 20k miles ago and its on 50k now

any ideas?

Can you give us some more details in your 'public profile' ?

Check the EGR hoses off the exhaust manifold for cracks. Easiest to do with the car running and a flashlight. Look for the smoke.

what do the egr hoses look like i havent done much work on tdis before

would that cause the engine to shake a little bit more too?

This car sound very much like what you are talking about.
I am working on an A4 that the front lifter area seems mighty loud a lot louder then mine. The car has a slight miss at around 2000 RPM light on the fuel. Tried new injectors i had around here some 205s and it made it worse. but it is very much louder then normal even when bleeding the injectors you can here it real well. Looked at the cam and as much of the lifters as we could see and everything looks good. Any ideas out there. 2001 TDI 80000 miles new belt timing right on.
