After sitting idle for a week went to start my 2009 Jetta sedan yesterday(about 25 degrees F) afternoon, it won't start. Intially it started immediatetly, then died. Subsequent attempts result in nothing, no starter noise. During one of my attempts I'm sure there was an engine fault warning on the MFD. Called VW, they sent a tow truck. Tried to jump start but no go, the battery seems fine. Towed it to nearest dealer, spoke to them today, they don't know what's wrong. No computer codes, they think it's mechanical. Because of the holidays they won't have any more updates till next week. I thought it might just be a starter motor problem but machanic thinks it's internal engine issue, ouch! Bummed, but lucky to have another car for the weekend.

Thanks, I feel a 'little' better. Hope it can be quickly resolved. The dealer was at a loss, I think he suspected a serious internal engine issue.
