HPFP Failure

Last Saturday I was driving home on the freeway and the engine died with the flashing glow plug light. Had the car towed to the the dealer. Failed HPFP. VW sent a fuel sample to test for contamination. Fortunately, there was none. VW is covering the repair. My Golf has just under 39k.

........regretfully, the post 2012 TDI is not immune from the dreaded HPFP failure.

I sure sympathize.

I also do fret about my fuel efficient, roomy, torque-rich 6M JSW having the same issue some day.

I would like to 'Drive more, worry less - - - but it is hard for the leopard to change its' spots.

Covering everything?? That's good news, as I know many people are skeptical of the new extended warranty covering ONLY the HPFP itself...

Fortunately, yes. Covering everything. They quoted $6k to $7k if it was "contaminated fuel".

That is why I still keep my fuel receipts for evidence.
