Weekend road trip to San Diego CA.

I bought an 09 TDI Sportwagon DSG trans. on Dec. 2nd. Made 1st road trip this last weekend from Bullhead City AZ. to San Diego. Left from BHC at 7 a.m. onto CA. 40 with fierce head wind about 40 mph all the way to Victorville area. New car milage to that point was 39 mpg. Return trip from S.D. back to BHC cool and calm weather average for the entire trip was 45.6 mpg. I am very satisfied with the ride and the milage. Car drove great. I sold an 02 Jetta TDI with a 5 speed and bought the 09. The 02 got around 48-49 mpg but was broken in with 70K miles. The 09 is a great car, roomy for wife and I and 2 Chihauhaus and Xmas presents for the Grandkids.

Let the engine break in a little, you should be seeing 45ish MPG, that is a anyday, no?
