I have a 1Z engine from Germany. It is almost identical to an AHU engine. The timing belt tensioner has an arm, maybe 4" long ending in a 2 prong fork that straddles a stud instead of the little anti-roataion tab. The original part is part number 028-109-243. The VW dealer can't get that part but can supply one with part number 028-109-243F. Can someone advise me where to get a new tensioner of the correct design? I might be better off to drill a hole in the belt guard to use one of the new style tensioners. Can anyone advise on that idea and possibly give accurate information about where to drill the hole?

Thanks,

Mike

I have same problem. I’m guessing the hole for the drive dog is on present on your car either. If I can’t get one through Napa then I will order off eBay.UK

EBAY uk is English and stocks appropriate parts for the car
