2012 Passat TDI SEL throwing a check engine code P20B7. Anyone have any idea what is broken or how to fix this issue?

Are you using Ross Tech VCDS? Or a generic scanner? Were you given the code in a dealership?. In other posts in this forum there has been reports of generic scanners not providing standard CEL codes.

You have a generic obdii adapter, and this thread shows that generic obdii readers can have different codes:

I have no info on yours, but I hope that somebody else can chime in. Also, try to find somebody in the forum with a RossTech VCDS near you (cheapest way), or check in the dealership or in an authorized shop (more expensive). Good luck.

M7 14 Passat is also displaying this. internet says it is a Reductant Metering Unit Heater Control Circuit Low error. And I've still got 3 weeks until my turn in......

Edit- also throwing P20B8, which appears to be the high circuit version and P146F, which doesn't show up anywhere. Yes, I'm using my cheap Wi-Fi PanLong dongle with the free OBD Car Doctor app.

I had CEL come on today with:

14418 - Output Stage for Reductant Heater
P20B7 00 [096] - Short to GND
Intermittent - Not Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear

14419 - Output Stage for Reductant Heater
P20B8 00 [096] - Short to Plus
Intermittent - Not Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear

9625 - Feedback from Reductant Tank Heater 2
P146F 00 [172] - Short to Plus
MIL ON - Intermittent - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear

The CEL then came off within 100KM. Still waiting on fix since this is a 6M

The faults would come and go. I finally got the car to the dealer B with the fault on. It seems that the adblu line which includes a heater element was not clipped properly to the line. It seems that it melted.

This might have been caused when the adblu heater was replaced last year at dealer A. I was quoted $650CDN to replace the line.

I'm going to go back to dealer A and see if they will do some type of goodwill as the repair was less than 1 year ago.
