2005 passat wagon ECT locations

Just wondering the location/s of engine coolant temperature sensors. I have found mixed information, some telling me there are two. If that's the case where are they located?

One physical sensor, but two circuits. One for the gauge in the cluster, one for the ECU. It is located in the coolant tee at the back of the engine, under the tandem pump. If you look in from the passenger side of the engine, under the EGR valve, you will see a silver heat shield with a snap closure on it. It is in there.

okay cool, then what is the sensor on the bottom corner of the radiator for?

Not sure, but I can check the Bentley DVD later and let you know.
