Wanted: Q5 OEM Hitch

Greetings, It looks like Audi has stopped importing the hitch for the '09-'17 Q5. I have called multiple dealers who report the part is no longer available. I have even ordered from multiple dealers to only get the order canceled stating part no longer available. Also tried ECS, DAP, and ID Parts to no avail. I can find an aftermarket hitch but then I need to get the wiring harness and control module. Those two parts alone are more than the entire assembly. I have also looked at salvage yards but cannot find all the needed parts (only the hitch).

Any ideas or suggestions on finding this part?

I think you'll probably have to settle for an aftermarket hitch if you're unwilling to wait for one to pop up at a salvage yard or craigslist.

Check out Reese or Curt hitches--not OEM. A quick search showed Amazon has one for $135

There is always this option too. Was thinking of going this route for the A6 until we got a Q5 with the factory set up. Looks like it should be complete and you can take full advantage of the tow rating. Not sure if Curt's allows that.

Check out stealthhitches.com. Good compromise between the US Style hitch receiver and the hidden look of a Euro hitch (not visible when not in tow).

Man that sucks that you cannot find one. I have installed a few for customers, and they are FAR superior than anything in the aftermarket. All the holes are already there, comes with the Trailer Control Module and the harness, and there is a little plug you pop out to route the harness, harness has a nice grommet on it for the pass through. Works perfectly. And totally hidden when the little trailer hitch part is removed.

I got the same response from my dealer last week for my '14 Q5. They said that they thought Audi was switching suppliers, and to call back in two weeks. I'm going to be pissed if they don't restock. The whole reason to buy a Q5 TDI was to pull a small trailer.

Audi has the 8R0092115 hitch listed on Amazon for $855. Says it ships in "one to three months." A little pricey but may be the only option for OEM. I ordered one so we'll see if they come through.
