Hi all,

What is your opinion on installing chip on VW Golf MK5 1.9 TDI 105 HP?
Will it have side effects?
Any advice will be helpful.

Thanks

A very good place to start would be here:
https://malonetuning.com/ecu-tuning/audi-volkswagen/tdi/pd-tdi

Your 2006 PD TDI does not require the ECU to be remove and sent to a tuner for a new chip. Your ECU is flashed through the OBD2 port on your car with a device called Flashzilla which the tuner will sell or lend/rent to you.

Generally a stage 1 or stage 1.5 tune will not require any other mods and the car will still pass pass emissions if it passed emissions prior to a tune.

Above a stage one tune usually requires a stronger clutch and a stage 2 and above generally require a bigger turbo and possibly injectors.

Thank you for the feedback.

My concern is mainly how it will affect the engine and other parts.
I don't want after 10.000 km to change the engine or to make major overhaul.

Thanks,
Darko

It depends a lot on your driving habits. If you drive like a raped ape, then you're asking for trouble. I had a stage 2 tune on my 2002 TDI Jetta and never ever had a problem. My car had the rotten 2002 automatic transmission too and even that gave me no trouble.

I put a stage 1.5 Malone tune on my new to me 06 brm about 4 yrs ago... It had 140K km on it at the time. I'm now at 295K km without any real issues. I did replace my clutch at about 260K km. Clutch wasn't worn down to the rivets yet, but it had starting slipping intermittently in higher gears.

Thank you petee_c.

I will think about it. I will not go above stage 1 for sure.
@ Jetta_Pilot, I don't drive like a raped ape, but I want to have more power when driving on high way or when passing by cars.

Darko
