Holy zombie thread.
But I would LOVE to put an OEM stereo into my Mk3... I am aware that there was a pretty rare OEM single-DIN head unit that is Bluetooth and/or USB-enabled which would bring my car into the 21st century... but it was Euro-only I believe and the model number evades me.
Had to build a connector harness to make it work. Also, Derek at Chubbs Auto in addition to converting my instrument cluster to MFA, also changed the lighting on this VW radio so now it lights OEM green.
VW Part # VWZ4Z3D5087138
Instructions are in Spanish and Portuguese so probably made for the South American market. Found mine on ebay.
Finally, I also installed a short antenna on a new B4 base and the fit is OEM. It looks good and functions well. I used a BMW Z3 optional antenna. Bought mine on ebay:

Zombie thread indeed. Just installed what I assume is the same deck in my Mk3 (his photos aren’t showing up for me) but mine looks like this.Holy zombie thread.

No; he and I are very familiar with one another. Had him set up the pre-out on my unit. He was not comfortable with doing the LEDs since he had nothing there to compare color temperature to. Was hoping for someone who had already done this for a VW since they would have a better idea of exactly what units they soldered in. Bummer about Chubb’s though. Never good to hear about a business ending in such a manner.
Chubs Auto is out of business due to a fire. Sorry.
Wow, didn't think that was why he stopped working on clusters..Chubs Auto is out of business due to a fire. Sorry.
