has anyone gotten the boost codes to work in a 2009/2010? I tried and it doesn't display anything.

Does the MAP gauge display an apparently accurate reading (barometric pressure + turbo boost pressure) or is that dead too?

Honeydew, MAP being a built in gauge in the unit?

sg2 is all but useless right now. I can get rpm and mph.. but can't get water/intake temps. I hear you can't get EGT (via cat sensors)?

Yes, MAP is one of the pre-programmed gauges. When you program the boost x-gauge you are subtracting a standard atmospheric pressure of your choosing from the MAP reading to yield the turbo boost pressure. If the MAP is reading but not the boost x-gauge then there is a problem associated with the x-gauge coding. If MAP reading is dead or wrong then that's the issue.

that explains why it's broken at least...

I downloaded the xgauge.pdf the other day and tried out the code for water temp from the VW ISO section, that didn't work either.

I thought that was why the new VCDS won't work on older VWs that aren't CAN. I assumed that they were the same CAN being referred to. Check what the SG data type is set to (you probably set it to auto then it selected one) I know the older cars set to ISO, and I assumed that the newer ones set to CAN.

I have a 2009 and I got my boost gauge to work. I should have used the same settings everybody else has used, except adjusted for the altitude where I live.

I talked to a guy from scanguage, and he told me to do this:

There is a trick that can be done with the CMNDS feature within the
ScanGauge (Accessed by pressing MORE > MORE > CMNDS) where we can
essentially ask the vehicle what sensors it supports. To do this, select
the CMNDS option then select EDIT. Next enter a value of 0100 then select
OK. After that hit SEND and you should see a long string of numbers and
letters. Write down the value that is displayed on the screen. Repeat this
with the values of 0120, 0140, and 0160 and send back what the responses
were
Here are the screenshots..

If anyone has time, please compare and let me know if the numbers match yours..

The values are empty: http://img35.imageshack.us/i/3211o.jpg/

I took screenshots so that I wouldn't make typos of the codes:

For anyone who cares, here is working water temp for the 2010 JSW:

TXD: 07DF0167
RXF: 04410567
RXD: 3008
MTH: 00090005FFD8 (or 00010001FFD8 if you prefer celcius)
NAM: WTR

I notice the car sits around 198 to 210 F a lot, even though it's 55F outside... anyone know if this is normal for diesel? I assume it is, but I'm used to seeing temps in the 180-190F (gassers)

Yep, this is normal operating temperature. If coolant temperature is below about 140F/60C, you should take it easy on your engine until it warms up. There should be a diagram in the manual to show on the temperature gauge where you need to watch for this.

at what point is it too hot? the manual isn't much help since the gauges in the car are idiot gauges...

I usually started to take it easy on a gasser when they hit 200-205 range.

Is oil pressure accomplishable? Or does the motor use a dummy switch sending unit? What pressure trips it?

TXD: 44 (DTE and this tank)
RXF: 800000000000 (This is a trip gauge)
then next till you get to the name and make up a tag for it, maybe DTE.

I'll try it on mine...

i don't know on a diesel, but on my gasser the MAF numbers are very close to crank horse power.

Yeah I tried that, initially, I Just had
TXD: 4

but that gives me KMs in the 3 thousand range... I tried what you just posted and it doesn't give me anything, the gauge just reads 0.0

0.0 might be correct...

What is your TANK SIZE set to?

How many Liters have you used this TANK?

If you go to TRIP, under TANK, and KM TO EMPTY does it show 0.0 there as well?

I'll check on the way home tonight... I have the fuel set to dieselA, tank size is 55 litres, units set to metric, Speed adjusted with a GPS, the last fill calibrated to about 17% off of what it guessed I used... I have about 1/3 tank left.

Yep, checked and Tank Size is set to 55 liters, fuel is set to DieselA, and under Trip>Tank it shows KM to Empty as 0.0... I don't get it.

I've had no luck with the horsepower xgauge - the numbers don't make sense to me at all in my '09.

The ScanGauge thinks your tank is empty. When is the last time you went through the fill up screen? That is the only way it knows how much fuel is in your car.
